No handouts for "All Options" or Planned Parenthood!

Printed in the Herald-Times, July 23, 2019.

To the Editor:

In 2018, "All Options" pregnancy resource center (which has a fund to pay for abortions) took in $1,338,572 and spent $799,071. Given that the amount of requests for funding from the county council's social services fund always exceeds the amount allocated, why should we distribute scarce resources to an organization that does not need it?

Similarly, the local Planned Parenthood has the backing of a major multinational corporation with total annual revenue of over one billion dollars. There is absolutely no need for local government to give thousands of dollars to this "clinic" that kills over one thousand babies every single year, right here in Bloomington.

See http://bit.ly/2MXiIKm for All Options' application for funding from county government. See http://bit.ly/31MKaOw for Planned Parenthood's application.

County government has been trolling local taxpayers for ten years by forcing pro-life taxpayers to give money to organizations we find morally abominable, which is why the complaints about a hat I wore at last year's meeting cannot be taken seriously. The councilors who voted for these handouts are not "pro-choice." If they were truly pro-choice, they would leave the funding of these two organizations to the private sector, instead of forcing it on those who disagree.
