Follow up: No corporate welfare for baby butchers

By Scott Tibbs, June 3, 2016

I am always amused by Leftists who respond to my opposition to corporate welfare for Planned Parenthood by whining that I am "forcing my religion" on them. I am not and have never been the one advocating anyone be forced to do as I say in the debate over funding Planned Parenthood. It is and has always been Leftists who are forcing their views on others. The Democrats are forcing every single person in Bloomington to fund Planned Parenthood, including those who find the organization morally abominable.

I have been called a "hypocrite" because I "have no problem" with other private charities getting funding from government. I have never argued for this and you will never find one single word I have ever said or written supporting it. My position is that charities should not be entangled with government, which is why I opposed the "faith based charities" plan put forth by President Bush. This so-called "hypocrisy" was fabricated out of thin air.

The most laughable response to my call for the city council to "stop forcing pro-life residents of Bloomington to subsidize an organization we find morally abhorrent" was this knee slapper:

Why should members of the Council, whom I support, adopt the anti-Constitutional positions of a "movement" that can't even field candidates locally?

The only appropriate response to such nonsense is this:

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

The idea that choosing not to fund Planned Parenthood is somehow an "anti-constitutional" position is completely and totally absurd. Even if one accepts the legal fiction that abortion is a "constitutional right" abortion providers have absolutely no "right" to have local government give them a grant every year. That is utter nonsense.

Let me make something clear: I do not believe all taxation is illegitimate and I have never said it is. Taxation is needed to maintain necessary functions of government: Infrastructure, police, courts and so forth. That said, I am not in denial of reality. All taxation is forcible confiscation of wealth. That is the way it works. If you do not pay "voluntarily" the government will take it by force. If you do not believe that, ask the family of Eric Garner.

The Democrats on the city council and the Leftists who cheer them on support forcible confiscation of wealth to give to an organization they support, but others find morally abominable. There is absolutely no "need" to give money to Planned Parenthood. I am not forcing my morals or my religion on anyone. It is absurd to accuse me of doing so. Leftists, meanwhile, are more than happy to force everyone to financially support their favored causes.
