An evil thirst for blood

Pia de Solenni brings a disgusting radio segment to our attention: aradio talk show host in Washington, D.C. recently had a "contest" where listeners could call in and brag about the abortions they have had or participated in.

The bloodthirstiness of many "pro-choice" folks is shocking. This past January, a friend of mine spoke with three women who were counter-protesting the 2005 Rally for Life here in Bloomington, Indiana. The protesters were bearing their midriffs in sub-zero temperatures. They had "my body, my choice" written on their stomachs.

One of the abortion-rights advocates (predictably) asked my friend if she ate meat. The conversation that followed ended when one of the midriff-bearing protesters told my friend "I would eat babies if I could." When asked why, she said "Just to piss you off." At this point, my friend walked back across the street to the rally, convinced that there was no longer anything productive that could come of the conversation.

Why the enthusiasm for abortion? Why does abortion become something to celebrate for some supporters of abortion rights? Even pro-abortion extremists like disgraced ex-President Bill Clinton and Senator John Kerry say that abortion should be safe, legal and rare. I think the answer is that most people instinctively know that abortion is the destruction of an innocent human life. (Most abortions take place when the baby looks like the picture above.) The guilt of being associated with murder poisons the soul.

God's word provides an insight into how this happens. "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient." Romans 1:28.
